BeachWeb - October 2010
Today is Sunday, 31st of October --- What has HAPPENED to the BeachWeb
web-page. --- LOTs of things - here's what is / has been 'going on'..
Ms. May has been painting our house - it looks a LOT BETTER with these
'accents' painted white, than before with just a plain-brown-house.
Ms._May's done not only these 'french-doors' but the
frame-work(s) around sliding-glass-doors, the front-windows, the
front-door, and the kitchen window - a major project and very very nice
looking... - more picture(s) to come...

Mr. Bill has been doing useless things like cutting bricks (around Ms._May's rose-garden) and such...

ONE thing Mr. Bill's been doing is a LOT more work on
internet-accessible camera(s) / systems / nuts & bolts / networks,
etc. etc. etc. - above 'tower' is a 'struggle' to get to (takes a LONG
walk down the jetty and TWO ladders, and a harness and lord only knows
what else? - Not bad work if you can find it - it doesn't pay much but
the ocean views are always pretty spectacular...
One day I was working this particular site after a HUGE storm several
hundred miles off the coast (I think it was a Hurricane that went by)
and the SURF was AMAZING off this jetty. They were doing
'tow-in' (and tow OUT so they wouldn't 'crash' on the jetty) surfing
here. The roof of this 'sand_pump_station' is about 50 feet
off the water - and then once you top-out on the ladder - tower - it's
another 20 feet - and the surfers were less than 200 feet away - a
pretty 'once-in-a-lifetime' sort of thing - very very impressive stuff
- both the surf itself as well as the surfers...
We've re-located some things on the porch and we've been petting the
cat (a lot) and Ms._May's now doing MIDI things with her new computer
(and a new cable (for less than $10, delivered!) and her OLD electronic
keyboard (Yamaha PSR-620)...
We've also been reading some books and found a couple of old books one via the Library ( "Lost in Transmission"
(key character is Xiomara Le Weng), book by Wil McCarthy)), and another
OLD OLD OLD (48 years old) book - I found on-line for 47 cents (yeah -
the shipping was more than the book): "Six Gates from Limbo" by J. T. McIntosh.
Also have 'devoured' more books by Kathy Reichs (forensic anthropology) and Jack McDevitt (science fiction).

As well as the Sarah Palin book, "Going Rogue".
Found an interesting computer-related book: "The Photoshop Channels Book"
by Scott Kelby - if you've ever STRUGGLED with both the concept as well
as the implementation of "Channels" in Photoshop - this book is for you
- one of the most powerful concepts in Photoshop (or any other image
editing tool) is "Channels" - I had known my knowledge-base was lacking
in this area, but this book REALLY HELPED me understand - and it takes
one through the 'step by step' (and there CAN BE a LOT of steps) - but
having this knowledge is really a great asset to my Photoshop
activities, even though I don't use it much - when I do - understanding
Channels can really help!

AND - of COURSE we have someone to help / supervise / inspect / ascertain the 'QUALITY' of our work in the yard...
On the 18th of October, I wrote this:
Well - MOST of the first few days of October (2010), we
were in / at the Cycle North Carolina (2010) event - a BIG cycling
event... - you can see a 'special' web-page devoted to that by clicking here...
We've both been working in the yard, it looks a lot better - but maybe needs to be mowed
Ms._May has been to a pottery-meeting, and Mr._Bill continues to fix, maintain, etc. in the web-cams world.
AND - the weather's turning cooler so that is helping things -
AND - we went for a good bicycle ride (both of us on bicycles)
yesterday (Sunday) morning and that was good - new speed-record there
for Mr._Bill just recently back on his diamond-frame /
_carbon_Trek5200_.
Here's just a few pictures:

Here's
a picture of us in the "Apple Store " at the 'Gardens Mall' near Palm
Beach; (picture by 'Apple's "PhotoBooth" software on Ms._May's new
laptop.)

We
took this one in the parking lot at the 'Gardens Mall' down near Palm
Beach, on the evening of Monday, 18th... - not bad for an iPhone
picture, huh?

I saw some '_River_Otters_' on a trike-ride on the 7th of this month,
I'd been passing-by this little-tiny retention-pond / lake in a
local 'gated community' for nearly two years but NEVER seen these guys
& gals... We've been back here several times but not seen
them again...

AND - we learned 'while up north' how to fix a 'Chocolate Overdose' desert, so - of COURSE we had to try this...

AND - we found a place (near the _River_Otters_) to take some really
good pictures of us tricycling... - Ms._May taken by
Mr._Bill 'at speed' though we WERE going up a (small (not like North
Carolina)) hill..

AND
- yeah - one more picture of Mr._Bill (taken by Ms._May and her trusty
Nikon!) - near-by the _River_Otter_lake - where we wouldn't get
run-down by auto-mobiles!.

AND - a 'friend' on the trike in the mini-van...
Cycling update(s): - for
the Trek 5200 - upright / diamond frame (last ride was this morning,
(Sunday, 31st) - and we did about 19 miles - pretty quick, even for a
diamond-frame - that makes about 80 - 100 miles so far this month
(October)... At the end of October - the TriceQ (recumbent Trike)
is 'about' 2 years old, and I've just turned-over a bit more than 9,400
miles in the two years I've had it...
AND - that's about it for now.... - more later....
