May
and Bill's short (3 1/2 hours - 9 miles - 15 kilometers) kayak
trip
from Belcarra Park, Belcarra, B.C. CANADA
via " Takaya Tours " kayak rental and Ms. Andrea who helped us out
We had wanted to go kayaking in
2006 when we were here, but - somehow, that never happened. We
visited the kiosk on the beach at Belcarra Park yesterday (25th) and
talked to Ms. Andrea - who runs this part of "
Takaya Tours ".
- She assured us we would have a good time if we went today (26th
(Thursday)) and so we reported in about 09:20 a.m. and left the beach
about a half hour later...
Some Pictures (click on each picture for a larger version)
some track-logs; and a tiny bit of text follow:

We're just leaving the beach, here, note the birds and the ships in the
background (AND the FLAT WATER (great for kayaking!))

Ms. May attempts to turn-around without capsizing us in the
chilly-water - however, these (tandem) kayaks are so BIG (Ms. May
describes them as "TANKS" _ which they are - that we probably couldn't
capsize it if we wanted to...

Mr. Bill at our pitt-stop....

and one more of Mr. Bill at the pitt-stop....

and here's the track-log overlain onto Google Earth.
the total track was 'about' 9 miles - very slow we were today, but, as
you can see we sort of 'hugged' the coast-line, looked at a LOT of
houses, docks, wake-board-boats (MANY of them from Florida (Ski
Nautique is headquartered in Orlando, Florida (near where we go
hang-gliding, Mr. Bill's Dad has piloted the Ski Nautique (Correct
Craft) airplane on and off over the years.
anyway - VERY NICE DAY on the water - however, we came back about 1:15
p.m. or so - because Bill's hips were cramping and May wanted LUNCH -
we ate breakfast before 08:00 so by the time 1 pm rolled around and
we'd been paddling for HOURS we were both pretty hungry!... - MAYBE
next time Mr. Bill will listen to his huggly-bunch and we'll take a
picnic lunch, huh?
