May & Bill's Paris Escapade
Page "3" - basically our third week - plus or minus

Well - our new friend has added a lot - so we gave him a Home-Page of his own: LeViteCat.

And Mr. Bill came back from Italy, so on Saturday Morning (11th) Ms. May fixed Breakfast:

And then we went shopping & did laundry and all those other domestic things... and - later we're supposed to go sightseeing at the Church on the Hill, and other things (But Ms. May's decided that Mr. Bill is not the religious type so she's suggested he go climb around the sewers - (which is about the state of his ability to appreciate art, so - well (REALLY, Though - there IS A Paris SEWER MUSEUM!)) _ So Apparently I'm off to there while she gets cultured... BUT that's it for now (Saturday morning) - til later - (PS: _ see the above LeViteCat page(s), - they're new...

Saturday afternoon, 11 September:

SO - we went to the church, and there's also a very popular open-art show / area there, where many artists both display their wares, and paint while you watch.  Oils (bigger (112k bytes)), Water colors, (bigger (56k bytes))portraits-while-you-sit, lots of others.  A funny kind of art that I'd seen before but don't know what the name is, where they use the paint and a small 'spatula' so the painting has a 'texture' or a 'relief' to it.  I "think" this is called "bas relief" - but hey - I'm NOT an artist.

Sunday, 12 September:

Sleeping late is becomming a regular thing on weekends - or should I stay staying in bed late, since I'm not sure we sleep much after about - 0530 when all the delivery & trash trucks start their morning rounds. I've vowed, now, to get up at that hour and try to do some work - Motorola might love me more?

ANYWAY _ this morning we wandered over (about a 10 minute walk) to Boulogne Park - (almost due-west), and wandered around (in circles, apparently) for about 3 hours and found May's electronic Swans, her Riding stables (looked expensive) a Tennis Club (looked even more expensive), some other lakes, a place to rent bicycles, had our tossed (around in May's shoulder bag) chicken salad sandwich-lunch, etc. etc.   While there, May thought she liked this big, strong
 (or bigger (152k bytes)).

We also found a lot of what Mr. Bill was convinced are (_____) nuts, but which Ms. May at first said they were not. (or maybe bigger(140k bytes))  However, after some time, she now admits they are (______) nuts, but we want ya'll's opinion(s) - so vote with your e-mail, tell us what kind of nuts they are, and are they good to eat (Mr. Bill thinks he knows - but we'll keep that a secret til ya'll vote?!).

Then we got on the underground (good, but old & complicated, but still easy to figure out) to "Paristoric"  - a wide-screen - multi-projector slide show that lasts about 45 minutes, about the history of Paris - very well done, I must say - and got in on  a "two-for-one" for the grand total of about $8 US for two people, pretty good price...

And, now we're home - Ms. May's making veggie / chicken soup for dinner (and checked-out my new
coffee press while trying to make Lingonberry tea), and I'm just having Nestea peach tea out of a bottle).  So - that's our day and now I'm charged - as usual, with uploading pictures & such!!!!

hope ya'll are fine - write & let us know!     ----    May & Bill

Week of 13-17 September:

We visited the Rodin Gardens (bigger-picture(92 k bytes) & Gallery, and we visited "Fontainbleau"...  (that's "Rodin's "Thinker"" in between the two pointy tipped bushes..) and that was very interesting.  And some interesting things about how bronze statues are made (quite the involved process, and remember these guys didn't have a lot of modern technology).

We also visited "Fontainbleau", and some gardens therein - we found this "special gadget" in the station as we returned from "Fontainbleau".

Week of 20-24 September - Bill's in St. Petersburg, Russia, Ms. May is working hard on her French, and taking good care of Mr. Le Vite Chat, (and he's taking good care of Ms. May, too!)...

Weekend of 25-26th September:

We did a LOT this weekend - we took the TGV
to "Rennes" (pronounced "Ren") and then another train to "St. Malo" - the "ulitmate" in sailing ports & environments.   This is a "walled city" like no other you've seen.  We'd been there before, during the summer of 1994, when we'd sailed in the Europe Dinghy World Championships in La Rochelle, France.

However, we had a bit more time this time, but managed to run-out of cash - so spent a lot of time walking.  (Credit cards wouldn't get cash from machine, either, and Mr. Bill forgot his driver's license - so we couldn't rent a car).  HOWEVER, it was Vvery very enjoyable just to wander around and look at things and absorb the culture.   There were windsurfers, land-sailors on the WIDE FLAT Beach, there were kite-flyers in their carts, and various and sundry other 'modern' things.

We had excellent dinner & breakfast-in-the-local-style (very good pastries!) and walked & walked & walked... ... ...
