click here => Contingency Planning section, and-or here's Bill's version of an issues-list for a Year2000 Contingency Plan. This issues outline - along with the review, who's link is listed at the end of the next paragraph, should help you create your new plan. Templates abound - and those of you who have been to the Year2000 Contingency Planning will have access to them.

Here's a "not-so" brief review of my thoughts as I read through all
the plans I've seen so-far - Some from inside GSD, some from other parts
of Motorola and some from outside Motorola. This ASCII file contains
just some of the problems I see with some documents, and how you can avoid
those pitfalls - "Learn from Other's Mistakes - you don't have time to
make them all in your life"... - click here

let me reiterate, again (as I did in my e-mails of 8, 15 & 30 March) exactly what is required for your Contingency Plan:
you each have several "classes" of equipment that could, potentially, be Year2000 sensistive. Some examples of those classes of equipment are: file servers, desktop-cpu-computers, Xterminals, PABXs, airconditioning systems, burgler alarms, etc. etc. etc.
For each "class" of equipment we need a statement from you - a short paragraph or two about what your Action Items will be on the day you discover that regardless of any vendor guarantees and/or any testing you or others have done that this "class" of equipment is non-compliant.
Additionally: - another section of the contingency plan would contain similar "what actions will I take" (to keep my business running) if software that I have delivered to a customer, and have guaranteed to him/her/it is Year2000 Compliant, in fact, turns out to not be compliant, what will I do?
I would like to publish your contingency plans here for one & all to see - even your draft plans - so submitting them to me in HTML format would be preferable to Word xyz or any other proprietary tool format.
We are, as I said in my recent e-mails working towards a deadline here. We must have a complete GSD-wide plan to presen to Terry (that he presents to Corporate's Year2000 Council) in May. Please use all available haste to complete your draft to me ASAP.
thank you very much, IN ADVANCE, for your HELP & COOPERATION!
VERY Sincerely yours, Bill Schell
