We typically find that if any network - a LAN or a
WAN has been 'static' for more than 9 months to a year - it probably
needs
an "ANAR" = (Annual Network Architecture Review) - and we do this on
our
own (corporate as well as 'pesonal') networks as well as recommend
it, as a first step, to new
clients.
This exercise (ANAR) determines the 'status' of the
existing network
operation(s) and their applicability to your business enterprise model
at this 'point' in time.
It is only a 'snapshot' of the network's ability to solve your business needs, but it puts down a "stake in the ground" of your network and what it does for your business.
Once the ANAR is complete, then you have a clearer
picture of 'where you are now' or your 'stauts quo'.
That, alone, is typically a valuable piece of
information, especially
for most small-to-medium business owners who are not particularly
network/computer saavy.
As a further step, though, we can build on this information base and help you decide if the right network is in the right place & configuration, and if not, - help you get to where you want to go with your network, it's costs & it's productivity for your employees & systems.
